Maple Grove stands solidly in the theological tradition of the Church of God (Anderson). Within that tradition, some of the special convictions God has laid on our hearts include the following.
Since 1978, we have been the home of Anderson's
original Live Outdoor Nativity Pageant, a ministry to thousands. We
joyfully give this gift freely to our community, never solicit donations,
and do not view it as a "church growth" opportunity. We always welcome Anderson University and
School of Theology students, not
just as attenders, but as full participants in ministry. We have
sent more than 98 students into ministry (including 4 families and 12
individuals last year alone). The entire congregation is the "youth
minister." By this, we mean that our youth are too valuable, too
precious, to be delegated to one paid staff person. We all want to be
in relationship with our youth. And if you love youth and children,
you would very likely find many ways to be directly involved in these
ministries. Maple Grove is about relationships.
We intentionally develop and nurture relationships with God, with each
other, with other Christian ministries, and with the entire world. We
are called to treat every person as a Child of God. Therefore
we cannot and do not take relationships lightly. Relationships are
everything. We believe that God calls us to resist the current market-driven pressures to produce measurable results (more people, more money). We intend to remain faithful to our core convictions, refusing to reduce ministry to a marketing strategy. We choose instead to proclaim and practice the historic Christian faith. We will resist the increasingly competitive church climate. We will not set aside conviction in order to get more people in. Click here to return to Maple Grove Welcome Page.
